Delta Air Lines Flight Declares Emergency in Atlanta Due to Engine Failure

Delta Air Lines flight DL2097, which declared an emergency due to an engine failure, is a routine scheduled flight between Atlanta & Rochester.
Also, it is understood the aircraft involved in the incident was N373NW.
As per data from Planespotters.net, N373NW is a 22.7 year old Airbus A320 that started out life with Northwest Airlines in December 2001.
Following it’s merger with Delta Air Lines, the aircraft was handed to the DL register in October 2008.
Moreover, of the A320ceo variant, the airline has 59 of them in their fleet.
Within that 59, all but four are in active service, with an average fleet age of 28.7 years.
As well as the A320ceo, the mainline Delta Air Lines fleet is as follows:

71 Airbus A220s.
57 Airbus A319s.
188 Airbus A321 Family aircraft.
70 Airbus A330 Family aircraft.
30 Airbus A350s.
88 Boeing 717s.
240 Boeing 737 Family aircraft.
121 Boeing 757 Family aircraft.
64 Boeing 767 Family aircraft.

Delta Air Lines flight DL2097 departed Atlanta at 0918 local time on July 8 and began to turn east towards Rochester when the engine failure happened, prompting an emergency call.

As per The Aviation Herald, it is understood that the right hand engine was the one that failed.
The crew brought the aircraft back around for a swift emergency landing into ATL, which they did without further incident at 0945 local time.
Aircraft Grounded for Two Days…

It is understood that the aircraft is still grounded at the time of writing (10/7/24 @ 0115 UK time).
However, data from RadarBox highlights that the aircraft is expected to return to commercial service later today.
For July 10, it is expected to operate the following rotations:

DL2490 – Atlanta to Oklahoma City.
DL2490 – Oklahoma City to ATL.
DL2862 – ATL to Oklahoma City.
DL2862 – Oklahoma City to ATL.

Of course, this is assuming that the issues which caused the engine failure on the Delta Air Lines Airbus A320 in Atlanta has been fixed.
All eyes will be on whether these flights will be operated by this aircraft or not in the hours ahead.
