Royal Jordanian, Jordan’s national flag carrier, has taken a further step in its fleet modernization program.
The airline has taken delivery of its first Airbus A320neo, facilitated by Avolon, a global leader in aviation finance.
The milestone was marked with a ceremony at the Airbus Delivery Centre in Toulouse, France, on May 29, 2025.
This aircraft is the first of eight A320neos that Avolon will deliver to Royal Jordanian over the next 12 months, strengthening the airline’s regional and international operations.

Airbus A320neo Configuration
The newly delivered A320neo features a 180-seat, all-economy configuration designed for passenger comfort and operational efficiency. This setup is ideal for Royal Jordanian’s growing network across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
Future deliveries will include varied cabin layouts, with some A321neo models offering premium configurations, including lie-flat beds for enhanced passenger experiences.
These modern aircraft align with Royal Jordanian’s strategy to expand its fleet and improve services while prioritizing sustainability.
The A320neo offers significant environmental benefits, consuming 20% less fuel. The variant produces 20% fewer CO2 emissions than previous-generation Airbus narrowbody aircraft.
Additionally, it reduces noise levels by 50%, making it a quieter and more eco-friendly option for regional routes.
These advancements support Royal Jordanian’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint while maintaining high operational standards.
Royal Jordanian Fleet
Flag carrier Royal Jordanian currently operates a fleet of 24 aircraft, serving 50 destinations worldwide. The airline has ambitious plans to grow its fleet to 41 aircraft by 2028. The upcoming Airbus A320neo deliveries will play a pivotal role in this expansion.
The partnership with Avolon, a long-standing collaborator, builds on their existing relationship, which includes two Boeing 787-8s already leased to the airline.

Avolon’s extensive portfolio includes 140 A320neo family aircraft, with an additional 294 on order as of March 31, 2025, showcasing its capacity to support airline growth globally.
Paul Geaney, Avolon’s President and Chief Commercial Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. “We’re thrilled to deliver Royal Jordanian’s first A320neo, reinforcing our strong relationship,” he said.
“This delivery supports the airline’s fleet expansion and leverages our extensive orderbook to drive their growth. With rising passenger traffic in the region, we look forward to further collaboration.”
Samer Majali, Vice Chairman and CEO of Royal Jordanian, highlighted the delivery’s importance. “This A320neo marks a key milestone in our fleet modernization,” he stated.
“Its advanced technology and fuel efficiency allow us to enhance passenger services while reducing emissions. Tailored for popular tourist routes, this aircraft supports our mission to promote Jordan as a top destination and establish Amman as a leading transit hub in the Middle East.”
Conclusion
The A320neo’s introduction strengthens Royal Jordanian’s position as a preferred carrier connecting the Levant with major cities in the Middle East and Europe.
By integrating cutting-edge aircraft, the airline aims to improve passenger experiences, boost operational efficiency, and improve sustainable aviation practices.
As Royal Jordanian continues its growth trajectory, this partnership with Avolon sets the stage for a modern, eco-conscious fleet ready to meet the demands of a dynamic global market.
